Why Snow Bear Chalets and why Whitefish Mountain Resort?

Yes! We were included on the cover of TIME Magazine in their 100 World’s Greatest Places 2018 issue, in September of 2018. Of the 100 places in the entire world, we were one of only 4 places to stay in the United States! We’ve also been named one of the 30 Most Romantic Places to Stay by COSMOPOLITAN Magazine, and have been featured in more than 200 more. You can find the stories/links here.

SKI Magazine rated Whitefish Mountain Resort the #3 Overall Best Resort in all of North America, in 2020! With thousands of acres of varied terrain for all level skiers, Whitefish Mountain is known for the friendliness of the people, and the amazing views from the mountain into the Canadian Rockies and the mountains of Glacier National Park.

The rate varies by which chalet you choose, and with the specific season. Our least expensive rates are our off-season rates April-May and November through early December.

Not including our most in-demand holiday weeks, we think Snow Bear is quite reasonable with rates ranging from less than $100/night per person/night to as high as $299/per person/night (at full occupancy for the chalet). Please understand, we ONLY rent the entire chalet, so if you only have two guests, you’ll pay the full chalet rate as we can’t rent the other space to additional people. We’re more affordable when you fill the chalet and divide the cost between guests.

That being said, Snow Bear is not for everyone. It’s literally the ultimate in luxury living for those who choose a unique, decadent holiday experience. If you’re ready to be spoiled on a gorgeous mountain escape, regardless of the season, you’ve found the right place!

During ski/snow season: If you’re not familiar with driving in the snow, there are alternatives to renting a car. Uber is available in our area, as are numerous taxi services. Additionally, there is a Snow Shuttle available from the Village (a few minute’s walk from Snow Bear) to downtown Whitefish.

The rest of the year: There are many national car rental companies who rent cars from the airport. If you like to drive, Montana has some beautiful places that are most easily accessed by private car. There is a shuttle from downtown Whitefish to Glacier National Park that makes getting there easy.

YES. Although the treehouses are located ON the slope, the other side of the chalet is a county road, providing direct driving access to your chalet.

Snow Bear Chalets is located just a few minute’s walk from The Village at Whitefish Mountain Resort. There are several restaurants and bars, as well as a small convenience store and a few ski/clothing shops.

That said, you’ll want to visit the charming area of downtown Whitefish. Our “Hallmark” village boasts incredible restaurants for culinary delights, fun boutiques, and merchants, distilleries and bars, as well as various real estate offices should you decide to own your own piece of heaven.

During ski season, you can also hop on the free Snow Bus shuttle to downtown Whitefish from the Village.

Glacier National Park is about 30 miles from the treehouses and is a beautiful drive. However, if you don’t choose to deal with limited parking in Glacier National Park during the peak summer months, you can drive your car to the Visitor’s Center in Apgar, then park and take the shuttle to many hiking destinations throughout the park. The free shuttle picks up/drops off about every 20 minutes at many popular spots in Glacier.

There is also a direct shuttle from downtown Whitefish to the Visitor’s Center, available for around $12/person.
